Protected Field Groups per Status 

Use

You can use a status profile to define that field groups in a generic object type cannot be changed if one object of this type has a particular status. To do this, you must first restrict the use of the status profile to the generic object type in question. To create, change, or restrict the use of status profiles you must have "create" authorization If this generic object type has field groups that are relevant for status, you can set a flag that defines that a field group is protected in a particular status.

Activities

To do this, proceed as follows:

In the status profile, branch to the detail screen for a status.

Activate the indicator for the field groups that are to be protected in this status.

Choose Protect Field Groups.

Repeat this procedure for each status, if required.

If you copy a status profile that is restricted to a particular object type, this assignment is also copied.

If you set the protected flag for an entire status, the field groups are also protected, even if a protected flag has not been set for them individually.

To use the field groups to control the status of a generic object, you have to restrict the use of the status profile to a generic object type. This means that this status profile cannot be used by any other object type, however, the generic object type does not have to use this status profile.
