Function documentation Status and Authorizations for Generic Objects  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

Several different users may work on a generic object and each of these users may have different tasks related to the object. Different people may need to edit the object, or part of it, at different stages of its life. The authorization and status concept for generic object types is therefore more detailed than for other aspects of cFolders.

To enable you to use authorizations and status effectively, field groups are used in the definition of the generic object type.

A field group is a collection of fields and link lists that belong together thematically or according to how they are processed, regardless of where they appear on the user interface. The system administrator creating the generic object type can define whether these field groups are relevant for authorizations and status.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

Note that each field can only be assigned to one field group that is relevant for authorization.
