Resetting Permissions
When you change and save the permissions for an item for the first time, the system creates a separate access control list (ACL) for the item in question. Permissions are no longer inherited from the superordinate item. If you change the permissions for a superordinate folder later on, these changes are not inherited by items with their own access control lists.
To restore the inheritance, you have to reset the permissions.
You must be entered in the permission owners list in order to reset the permissions.
There are the following functions for resetting permissions.
● Reset Permissions
This function deletes the access control list of the current item. This causes the item to inherit the permissions of the superordinate folder again.
● Reset Subordinate Permissions
This function deletes all ACLs in the entire subordinate tree. All items in the subordinate tree inherit the permissions of the folder again.
The prerequisite for this is that you are permission owner in the subordinate access control lists or member of a role that allows you to change these permissions. If you are not allowed to change the permissions for an item the permissions for the item in question, and for all subordinate items, remain unchanged.
