Permission Owners
The list of permission owners defines which users can change the permissions for an item. An item can have two types of permission owner:
· For changing permissions (for the item itself)
· For changing service permissions
Permissions owners have the following special rights:
· They can change permissions
· They can add other people to the list of permission owners, or remove people from the list
· They have full access to the item in question

If an item does not have its own access control list, and inherits the permissions of a superordinate item instead, it also inherits the list of permissions owners. To save the permissions in an item without its own access control list (thereby creating a new access control list), you have to be entered in the next superordinate list of permissions owners.
The Details dialog box for an item shows permission owners on a separate tab page next to the permissions or service permissions.
When you first save the permissions or service permissions for an item, the system enters your user name into the list of permissions.

We recommend that you immediately add other users that are to be responsible for maintaining the permissions for this item to the list of permission owners.

When you add a new user to the list of permission owners, the system creates an access control entry with Full Control for this user on the tab page Permissions. This entry is grayed out, and cannot be edited. To remove a gray entry from the tab page Permissions, go to the tab page Permissions Owners and remove the owner from the list.
