Events 

Alerts can be based on application events from SAP or non-SAP systems.

Events from SAP Systems

Events from SAP systems can trigger corresponding alerts directly using Alert Management. Such events are generated in the event of status changes in the underlying BOR or ABAP OO object. Numerous events are already defined in the corresponding standard SAP applications. You can also define customer-specific events.

Events from Non-SAP Systems

You can convert an event from a non-SAP system to an event message by using the Adapter Framework of the usage type Process Integration (PI). A monitoring process can subscribe to this event message. In the monitoring process, you can define rules for triggering alerts.
