You can activate the Single Activity Trace (SAT), and set the level for the trace. The following settings can be made:
● User: All user actions traced.
● Sessions: All actions within a Session are traced.
● RFC Modules: All actions within a function module are traced.
...
On the initial screen of the VMC system administration (SM53) in the structure on the left side under Navigation, choose Single Activity Trace → Configuration.
On the right side of the configuration view you can see the following areas:
● Header Area: The number of users, sessions, and RFC modules activated for the SAT.
● Left Side: This area shows the current configuration state on the application server. Shows the current number of active users, sessions, and RFC modules. From the context menu or tool bar you can reset the entire configuration, or reset the configuration entries individually.
● Right Side: Here you can see the state of the active instance and you can change the configuration of this instance. To do this, use the header bar or the context menu (right mouse button).
The active mode is not considered here, since usually you would not want to trace the SAT configuration. If you open a Java session in another mode, you can see it under Sessions, and you can select it for the SAT.
Now you can specify a unit for which the trace is created. This can be done at the level of users, sessions, or RFC modules.
In the header bar choose Add User, to select a user for whom the trace is to be activated. A dialog box containing all the users in the system appears. Use the context menu to find and select a user. Now activate the trace at the following levels:
● Level 1: System layer – all calls from the VMC infrastructure are included in the trace. Choose Trace System Layer.
● Level 2: System and application layer – all calls from the VMC infrastructure and from the applications are included in the trace. Choose Trace System and Applications
● Level 3: System, application, and database layer. All calls from the VMC infrastructure, applications, and from the database layer are included in the trace. Choose All Traces.
Choose the session you want under analyzable units and specify for which layers the trace is to be created.
The list under Analyzable Units → RFC Modules contains modules that have already been called. Choose Add RFC Module to analyze any RFC module in the system.
Tracing is activated. You can perform the actions you want and then Display the SAT Results.
