Configuring Process Integration Scenarios 

Use

You can use a process integration scenario from the Enterprise Services Repository as a configuration template. The system uses the information saved in the process integration scenario, together with additional assignments, to calculate the relevant logical routing objects and the collaboration agreement. The system creates the determined configuration objects or assesses the usability of existing configuration objects and groups these in a configuration scenario. A generation log provides the necessary overview and helps you to analyze and complete the configuration. Thus, the configuration of more complex collaborative processes is automated to a considerable extent.

All the configuration settings that you make with the model configurator are saved in the Integration Directory together with the configuration scenario. This means that the relevant data is always available when you reload the configuration scenario.

Prerequisites

You can check whether the process integration scenario that you want to use as a configuration template is configurable.

A process integration scenario is configurable when all assignments required for the generation of configuration objects have been made.

Procedure

To configure a process integration scenario, perform the following steps:

1. Calling the Model Configurator and Selecting the Process Integration Scenario

       1.      In the main menu bar of the Integration Directory, choose Tools  → Use Model from Repository ().

A wizard starts.

The radio button Process Integration Scenario is under Type of ES Repository Model.

Other model types are currently not supported by the model configurator.

       2.      Under ES Repository Model Reference(s) select the process integration scenario from the ES Repository.

Call the input help ().

A list of available process integration scenarios from the Enterprise Services Repository is displayed.

       3.      Select the required process integration scenario and choose Apply.

       4.      Choose Continue.

       5.      Enter a name for the configuration scenario.

All configuration objects generated are grouped together in the configuration scenario.

The system proposes the name of the process integration scenario as the name. You can use this or overwrite it.

       6.      Choose Finish.

       7.      Choose Close.

The system calls the model configurator. An interactive screen area displays a component view defined for the process integration scenario.

If you have already created a configuration scenario for the configuration of your process, you can also call the function from the object menu list of the configuration scenario.

2. Select Component View

Select a component view defined for the process integration scenario as the configuration template.

If only one component view is defined for the process integration scenario, this step is omitted.

You can configure multiple component views within the same configuration scenario.

3. Assigning Communication Components

Assign communication components to the application components of the component view. In this way, you map the participants in a process displayed in the model to actual senders and receivers of messages in your system landscape.

4. Configure Connections

Activate sender/receiver relations for the connections of the process integration scenario. The system calculates the relevant configuration objects.

5. Generating Configuration Objects

The system creates the new calculated configuration objects. If the system finds existing configuration objects, it assigns these to the configuration scenario. These objects can be reused. If necessary, these objects are enhanced.

You can simulate generation for test purposes.

6. Analyze Generation Log and Edit Objects Manually

Analyze the generation log created at the end of the configuration process.

The generation log provides you with an overview of all changes made in the Integration Directory as a result of the configuration of the process integration scenario. It informs you which configuration objects have been created or reused. The generation log enables you to recognize which configuration objects require manual work.

7. Activate Configuration Objects

Activate the generated configuration objects.                    

The generated objects are in the change list that you defined in the generation settings.

Reloading the Process Integration Scenario from the ESR

Each time that you call the model configurator, the process integration scenario is loaded from the Enterprise Services Repository. However, this is always the version in which the object was originally included and configured. This enables you to divide up configuration work into multiple steps and means that the configuration is not affected by any changes to the process integration scenario in the Enterprise Services Repository.

To reload the current version of the process integration scenario from the Enterprise Services Repository, on the graphical interface of the model configurator, choose Apply New Version from ES Repository () at the Process Integration Scenario field. The system displays the template with all the changes that have been made up to the update. If the new version of the process integration scenario has the component view you selected with the same application components and connections as the old version, all communication component assignments are transferred where possible.

Note that configuration data may be lost when the process integration scenario is updated. If the latest version of the process integration scenario no longer contains the component view that you originally configured, then your configuration settings cannot be recovered.

Therefore, before updating, check the changes that have been made to the process integration scenario in the Enterprise Services Repository.
