Background documentation AS Java Configuration  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

This section describes the configuration tasks, which you can perform after you have installed the SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java (AS Java). The installation procedure provides a system that is ready to be run and used. However, you may need to configure the AS Java additionally to adapt the system to the needs and requirements of your business scenario.

Tasks

Initial Configuration Tasks

Configuration Wizard - you can automatically configure your SAP NetWeaver system directly after the installation using the wizard-based configuration. The Configuration Wizard tool carries out the basic configuration steps.

Clustering the AS Java – you can choose the cluster setup that is most appropriate for the efficient performance of your AS Java system and further scale the system, if necessary, by installing additional Java instances or by adding server processes to an already existing Java instance.

Viewing and Configuring the Communication Ports – if the default communication ports generated by the system during installation are in use by other programs, you need to reconfigure the AS Java communication ports.

Advanced Configuration Tasks

Configuring Instances – you can manage Java instances by configuring additional instance parameters, such as the startup mode of a Java instance, specify debug parameters, and so on.

Activating a Configuration Template – you can change the default system configuration template by applying a new template.

Adding Filters – you can add filters to activate or deactivate system components (services, libraries and applications), according to the particular usage of your system.

Configuring JVM Parameters – you can use this procedure to reconfigure the default Java Virtual Machine (JVM) settings.

Core System Modules - describes the AS Java kernel modules, which contain the manager components responsible for the core functions of the system, and guidelines for their configuration. During installation a Zero Admin template is applied, which contains the optimal values for the parameters of the core system modules, based on the scenario in which you will run your AS Java system (the installation option that you have chosen during installation), your operational system, and your hardware resources. We recommend that you reconfigure the core system modules only after performance testing and consideration of the implications of such reconfiguration.

Configuring Additional Components

Adobe Document Services Configuration Guide – explains the configuration steps required to set up the Adobe Document Services (ADS). ADS is part of the SAP NetWeaver installation, usage type AS Java. This guide covers all configuration steps that are required to run the ADS.

Configuring ACC – describes how you can use the SAP NetWeaver Administrator and Adaptive Computing Controller (ACC) application to perform the various configuration activities related to adaptive computing.

Configuring the Services Registry  explains how to configure the Services Registry. This is a registry for Web services, which is part of the SOA landscape and contains entries for all services and service definitions, including references to the WSDL metadata and the callable service endpoints of the service providers.
