Procedure documentation Activating a Configuration Template  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

During installation, a default configuration, which includes configuration templates, is provided to your system. You can make custom changes within the system configuration templates and also activate new templates using the Config Tool.

When you apply the new template, it applies to all Java instances in the relevant cluster.

Prerequisites

Before changing the template, make sure your AS Java is stopped.

Procedure

       1.      Start the Config Tool by double clicking the configtool script file in <SAP_install_dir>/<system_name>/<instance_name>/j2ee/configtool directory.

       2.      Choose File Change system template.

       3.      From the dialog window, choose the relevant new template.

You have three options, regarding the custom settings in your templates:

Use existing custom settings – if the new template you want to apply has been previously used and customized, this option applies its custom settings. If it has never been used, its default settings are applied.

Copy current custom settings – the settings of the new template are overwritten by the custom settings of the template that you have previously used.

Reset custom settings – all the custom settings of the selected template are reset. The template has the default configuration settings.

Note

For the last two scenarios, the Config Tool provides backup of the custom data of the new template. To activate this function, set the Backup custom settings indicator.

       4.      Choose OK.

       5.      Start the AS Java.

The new template is activated.
