Defining Configuration Objects
The tasks that you must perform when you configure in the Integration Directory are structured and organized according to configuration objects.
In this section you get an overview of:
● The basic configuration process

Note that there are tools in the Integration Directory to support you and which partly automate and simplify the creation of configuration objects. For example, you can execute the configuration on the basis of a process model from the ES Repository (so long as such a model exists). The tool that you use depends on the specific application case. Therefore, the general configuration process flow shown below is normally modified in specific cases. It is, however, still described to show the concepts and connections.

● Process configuration areas that are covered by specific configuration objects

The section on each configuration object describes the relevant concepts and tasks in detail.
Detailed information about the concepts: Configuration Objects.
The fundamental configuration process is based on the following tasks:
Tasks and Relevant Objects (Integration Server Communication)
Tasks |
Relevant Objects |
Define Collaboration Profile Specify here which parties or systems communicate with each other and what their technical communication capabilities are. More information: Defining a Collaboration Profile |
Communication Party (party for short) |
Defining Routing In routing specify which receiver messages from the Integration Server are to be sent to. You can define the routing of messages dependent upon the application data in the message. If necessary, you can also specify here which mappings are to be executed. More information: Defining Logical Routing |
Defining Receiver Determinations Receiver Rule |
Define Collaboration Agreements Here you specify which communication options from the collaboration profile are to be used for a specific sender-receiver pair. Moreover, you can specify the security settings for message exchange. More information: Defining a Communication Agreement |
...
In the special case of direct communication between two business systems that does not involve an Integration Server, define a direct connection.
