Executing Device Rollout 

Purpose

With this IT process, administrators perform the following activities:

●      Configure the client devices.

●      Create setup packages.

●      Install the setup packages on the devices.

●      Execute deployment and administration tasks for each device or for a group of devices.

Use of the Process

This IT process is part of the following IT scenario:

Prerequisites

You have completed the process Implementing Mobile Scenario.

Process Flow

The following IT process runs in the usage type Mobile.

The functional Unit for this IT process is SAPNetWeaver Mobile Administrator.

...

       1.      Generate devices and assign device profiles.

       2.      Assemble setup packages.

Administrators can accelerate the installation of client devices by creating setup packages in the SAP NetWeaver Mobile Administrator.

       3.      Mobile user installs setup package, and registers device.

The user triggers device registration. This creates a physical ID on the client device and this ID is sent to the server. In the DOE, the physical ID is the automatically assigned to the device ID.

Result

You have completed the software deployment and all the necessary administrative steps. You now need to execute the IT process Enabling Runtime and Synchronization.
