Prerequisites

You have imported the models for the DPS search object connector. For more information, see Importing Models for the Data Provider Service.

Procedure

Proceed as follows to create a search object connector of type Data Provider Services.

  1. Launch the administration cockpit and choose Create.

  2. Choose Next.

  3. Choose the search object connector type Data Provider Services and choose the software component that you want to use.

  4. Choose Next.

  5. Specify the logical port of the DPS data Web service.

    To create a new logical port, choose New. Enter the host, the port, the protocol used (HTTP or HTTPS), the previously defined name of the logical port, and the value Search Data Service as the Web service type.

    Example Example

    For the Web service URL http://www.domain.com:8080/myapplication/es/dps/dataservice, the values for the required entries appear as follows:

    Host: www.domain.com

    Port: 8080

    Protocol: http

    Logical Port Name: As previously defined

    Web Service Type: Search Data Service

    Service Endpoint: /myapplication/es/dps/dataservice

  6. Select the authentication type.

    No Authentication: No authentication takes place.

    SAP Authentication Assertion Ticket: The logged-on user is used for authentication via SSO.

    User/Password: A statically configured serrvice user is used for authentication.

    We recommend using a service user from the source system for the extraction of data; this user requires authorization to access all data in the source system that you want to search through.

  7. Choose Next.

  8. Choose the search object connector model that you want to generate a new search object connector from.

    Note Note

    You can also choose more than one search object connector model.

    You cannot choose search object connector models that you have already used to generate a search object connector.

  9. Choose Next.

    A summary screen displays the values you have entered for this search object connector.

  10. To save the settings, choose Finish. You can also choose Previous to correct any incorrect settings, or Cancel to discard all the data you have entered.

  11. Once you have created the search object connector, you must schedule indexing for it to obtain search results.

    In the administration cockpit, choose the previously created search object connector of type Data Provider Services and choose   Actions   Schedule Indexing  .
