Deleting Application Log Files

Delete at regular intervals any log files that are no longer required by SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search from the application log. Proceed as follows:

  1. Log on to AS ABAP as user Search_Admin.

  2. Start transaction SLG2.

  3. Enter ES in the Object field.

  4. In the Subobjects field, select one of the following, depending on the log types you want to display:

    • FU_DEMON

    • INDEXING

    • INTEGRATION

    • MONITORING

    • OBJECT_MODEL

  5. Select whether you want to delete the logs by expiry date or by specifying general selection conditions.

  6. Select one of the deletion options:

    Only calculate number

The system only calculates the number of logs that can be deleted. The data is not read in from the database.

    Generate list

The system creates a list of all logs that can be deleted. You can then decide which of the logs in the list you want to delete.

    Delete immediately

The system deletes all logs from the database that satisfy the selection criteria.

  7. You can specify a date range for the logs to be deleted at the bottom of the screen.

  8. Choose Execute.

Deleting Change Pointers in an Embedded Search Back-End System

If you have connected an Embedded Search system as a search provider, you can set up real-time indexing for this back-end system.

For real-time indexing, change pointers are written in the back-end system and processed immediately. To allow restoration of the central index in the event of a failure of the SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search system, the processed change pointers are only deleted automatically every 360 days.

If you want to delete the processed change points manually or change the interval for automatic deletion, run the ESH_EX_FU_CPOINTER_REORG report.
