SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search supports searches in BW metadata, such as names of key figures or characteristics. To allow searching in the BW metadata in SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search, you must prepare the BW system accordingly.

Prerequisites

SAP Business Warehouse Release 7.0 SPS 14 or higher

Procedure

Enabling Metadata Indexing

The TREX search engine that comes with the BW system must be fully installed for you to use all functions for searching in the BW metadata. If the metadata search has not yet been enabled in the BW system, proceed as follows:

  1. Install the TREX search engine.

    Note Note

As an alternative, you can also use the TREX search engine installed in SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search. In this case, configure the RFC destination for the internal TREX as described in the next step.

    End of the note.
  2. Create an RFC destination in the BW system for the TREX search engine.

Make sure that you have performed the following steps in the BW system:

  3. Enter the RFC destination in transaction RSODADMIN.

Creating the Metadata Index
  1. Specify the object types relevant for the BW metadata searches and trigger initial indexing of the metadata.

  2. Schedule the (delta) indexing of the metadata as a regular job (transaction RSODADMIN).

You configure the required settings in the Administration functional area of the Data Warehousing Workbench. For more information about managing the BW metadata search, see BW Metadata Search.

Configuring User Management
  1. On the BW system, create a technical user with administrator authorization to create the connection to SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search.

This user is required for the following purposes:

    1. To retrieve status information for the BW search object connector that is displayed in the SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search administration cockpit.

    2. To create BW search object connectors in the SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search connection wizard.

  2. Configure SSO for the authorization check during a search and for BW portal access when executing reports from the search results list.

Configure BW to accept user/SAPLogonTicket pairs for authentication (instead of only user/password pairs) using the procedures below:

    1. Proceed as follows to configure SSO between SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search and the SAP NetWeaver BW ABAP system (so that the SAP NetWeaver BW ABAP system accepts SSO from SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search):

Creating a Trusted Relationship with Enterprise Search

    2. Proceed as follows to configure SSO between SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search and the application server for the BW Portal (so that the application server for the BW Portal accepts SSO from SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search):

Establishing a Trusted Relationship with Enterprise Search.
