Before you can start using the Services Registry, you must first configure the UDDI server.

Set up a central Services Registry in your system landscape. We recommend to setup one AS Java as your central Service Registry. For this task, you can use the Configuration Wizard.

A second Configuration Wizard task is available for the Services Registry, where you can set destinations to the UDDI server and the classification service. Run this task only if you want to use a non-SAP UDDI server, use an older release version of Visual Composer or AS ABAP in your environment.

Assign Service Registry users to user roles and adjust search settings for the Services Registry.

Procedure

  1. Configure the UDDI Server.

More information: Configuring the UDDI Server

  2. Assign user roles to Services Registry users.

    For a Services Registry administrator:

    • UDDI_Admin

UDDI administrator, has access to all data.

    • SERVICES_REGISTRY_READ_WRITE

Allows use of all the functions of the Services Registry.

    For a Services Registry user:

    • UDDI_TierN

Can create all objects it the UDDI server, can only access own data.

There is also the UDDI_Tier1 role available. This only allows creating one business entity. Do not use it for Services Registry users.

    • SERVICES_REGISTRY_READ_ONLY

This user role allows use of the search functions of the Services Registry.

  3. After installation, you can use the Configuration Wizard to execute the following tasks:

    • Configuring a central Services Registry

    • Setting destinations for the UDDI server and classification service

This is an optional task. Execute this task only if you use a non-SAP UDDI server or have an older Visual Composer or AS ABAP release version in your system environment.

More information: Wizard-Based Configuration of the Services Registry

Using the wizard, continue with step 6.

  4. If you do not use the Configuration Wizard, setup an AS Java in your system landscape as your central Services Registry.

  5. If you do not use the Configuration Wizard and you want to use a non-SAP UDDI server or have an older release of Visual Composer or AS ABAP in your system environment, set destinations to the UDDI server and to the classification service.

More information: Setting Destinations to UDDI Server and Classification Service

  6. Define settings for the Services Registry like number of displayed search results, or settings for TREX search in the NetWeaver Administrator.

More information: Configuring Services Registry Search Settings

  7. To use a non-SAP UDDI server, you must set the URL to the external UDDI server.

  8. Connect your Developer Studio to the Services Registry.

Result

After configuration access the central Services Registry by using the following address: http://<hostname>:<port>/sr_central. Without Services Registry configuration this address leads you to the Services Registry on your local AS Java.
