Background documentation Getting Started with Guided Procedures Runtime  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

The runtime of Guided Procedures (GP) enables you to initiate process templates created in the design time. You can also complete tasks assigned to you for a specific process and oversee the progress of all processes and tasks that you contribute to.

Accessing the Runtime Environment

GP runtime is mainly designed for process contributors, that is, those end users who have the appropriate process roles assigned and contribute to the completion of process instances by performing process tasks.

Prerequisites

To be able to work in the GP runtime, you need the GP roles GP User  and GP Runtime WC.

Managing Roles and Permissions

Portal Roles

Portal roles define the permissions for user access to a predefined GP workset. They enable the assigned users to access design time functions and callable object types for which a specific permission level (basic, advanced, or expert) is set. Only users with administrative rights can do the mapping between GP portal roles and other users.

Process Roles

Process roles define a set of tasks that a user assigned to a role can execute on a process. You can make the assignments at process initiation in the GP runtime. The concept is specific to GP and should not be confused with portal roles.

GP provides predefined process roles, but also allows the process designer to manage roles.
