The process instance (runtime object) is generated by starting a process, that is, by initiating a process template (design-time object). The process instance is a complete process including all actions, blocks, and phases that must be processed by process contributors in the form of tasks. Using the available navigation elements, you can retrieve all required detail information to carry out tasks assigned to you.
The screen of the Process Instance work center is divided into the same basic areas as the GP Runtime work center.
The core elements specific for the Process Instance work center are:
This screen area contains the name of the process instance, which can be set at design time, instantiation of the process, or runtime. The phase navigator is displayed in the process title bar and shows the individual phases of a process. The navigator is only visible for multiphase processes.
This screen area is not necessarily available for a specific process instance. You can only see this area if the necessary components were assigned to the process in the design time.
The components, if any, which are displayed in the contextual navigation panel depend on the generic views set for the process instance in the design time. The table below summarizes the components that can be available for a process instance:
Contextual Navigation Panel: Components
Component |
Description |
Activities (Activity Navigator) |
Displays all activities of the running phase. Completed blocks are automatically collapsed, running blocks are expanded. You can freely navigate in this structure. |
You Can (You Can navigator)
|
Displays all info callable objects and ad hoc items available for the running activity. The info callable objects are sorted by content criteria which are determined in the design time. More information: |
Process Control (Elements and Process Control) |
This component allows you to change the process as follows: ● Terminate Process ● Delegate Role You can assign additional process roles to users but you cannot delete existing assignments. ● Rename Process |
Phases (Mini Phase Navigator) |
A small phase navigator version of the process title bar. |
The components listed here and the generic views are delivered with Guided Procedures. You can create additional views (customized views) and components in the design time. You can also specify the visibility of each panel at runtime. For more information, see Defining Runtime Views
At least one view is assigned to this screen area in the design time. View selection allows all process contributors to oversee different aspects of the running process, depending on the view selected.
