The Define Service Name step of the Service Component wizard enables you to define a name for the service component. If you opened the wizard from the   Tools   Service Component Wizard   menu item, you can also specify the location in which to create the service component. Otherwise, the service component is automatically created in the same location as the currently active component.

The Define Service Name step contains the following items:

Name

The name of the new service component. The name can contain only alphanumeric characters and underscores, and cannot exceed 40 characters.

Repository

The repository type in which to create the service component. This option is enabled only if you opened the wizard from the   Tools   Service Component Wizard   menu item.

The following options may be available, depending on your system configuration:

  • Shared Repository: Stores the service component in a shared location where it can be accessed by other modelers. Models saved in this location are managed using basic source control features (check in and check out). When you create a model in the shared repository, it is automatically checked out to you that so you can start working on it. This option is available only if you do not have a source control system installed and configured for use with Visual Composer.

  • <Other source control system>: Stores the service component in the selected source control system. This option is available only if you have a supported source control system installed and configured for Visual Composer.

  • Local Repository: Stores the service component in a local repository with no source control. Models in the local repository can be accessed only by the user who created them.

Software component

The software component in which to store the service component. This option is enabled only if you opened the wizard from the   Tools   Service Component Wizard   menu item.

Development component

The development component in which to store the service component. This option is enabled only if you opened the wizard from the   Tools   Service Component Wizard   menu item.

New

Creates a new development component in which to store the service component. The development component is created in the local repository, in the selected software component. This option is enabled only if you opened the wizard from the   Tools   Service Component Wizard   menu item.
