Configuring the Portal
The Web-like user interface of a portal provides users with a single point of access to content they need to perform their daily tasks.
You can integrate composite applications, modeled and developed in SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment (NWCE), into a portal environment for testing and production. You can also use the portal's own built-in tools to create portal content and integrate applications.
Use the federated portal network capabilities of SAP NetWeaver to seamlessly expose applications running in NWCE 7.1 to an existing SAP NetWeaver 7.0 production portal.
This section describes the basic initial configuration tasks which a portal administrator must perform after the installing the CE portal.
Before you begin configuring the portal, read the following topics:
●
Logging On to / Off
the Portal: Describes how you log on to and log off from the
portal
●
Working in the
Portal: Describes the portal interface and basic runtime tasks you can
perform as a portal user, such personalizing your own portal
desktop.
●
Standard Portal
Content: Provides an overview of the out-of-the-box roles and content
shipped with the portal.
The basic configuration steps are described in Initial Configuration Tasks. Once you have performed these steps, your portal should be fully functional.
Advanced configuration steps for the super administrator are also described in Super Administration.
