You can use the Guided Procedures (GP) design time and runtime tools to start a GP process in the following ways:
· Automatically
In GP design time, set the Process is started automatically indicator.
More information: Configuring Process Instantiation
· Manually
You can start a process manually anytime using the GP runtime workset.
This procedure describes the steps of manual process initiation and explains the options you can set as a process initiator.
You have activated the process template.
More information: Activating Guided Procedures Content
Open the GP runtime workset and in the GP work center, choose You Can → Start New Process.
The Initiate Process view is displayed.
From the gallery, select the active process template to be initiated and choose Next.
Assign values to the individual parameters of the process template and choose Next.
This step is only available if you exposed any input parameters in the design time during the modeling of the process template.
Assign users to each of the following process roles:
● Administrator
● Owner
● Overseer
● All custom user-defined process roles
You must provide at least one user for each role of type Initiation Defined, for which you have not defined a default user at design time. Therefore, this step is not available if you have configured all roles with a type other than Initiation Defined.
In case you assign more than one user to a single process role, the order in which users are listed is important to the extent that the first user in the list is always used for impersonation whenever the relevant step is a background callable object. You can reorder entries using Move Up and Move Down.
You can also start multiple processes whenever a single process template needs to be initiated for a group of users. To do this, select Mass Initiation and choose a role from the dropdown box. Assign the relevant users to the selected role. A separate process is created for every user in the list.
Only roles of type Initiation Defined are available for mass initiation.
More information:
Change the notification configuration if needed and choose Next.
This step is only available if you checked Allow changes on instantiation in the design time during the creation of the process template.
More information: Defining and Configuring Notifications
You can determine the following basic data of the future process:
...
● Initiator
● Process Title
Choose Initiate.
If tasks are assigned to your user, you can see the pending and completed tasks in the GP work center Overview or Tasks views.
To continue the process flow, you have to execute the pending task (process step) assigned to you. To do this, open the task from the Work Item column and complete it.
