Providing Broadcasting FunctionsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

To make it possible to use information broadcasting, you need to make various settings in the system administration.

Procedure

Assigning Authorizations

  • To enable users to distribute BEx objects immediately and to schedule distribution as well, give them authorizations for scheduling broadcast settings. Use authorization object S_RS_BCS for this.

  • If the BEx objects need to be distributed by e-mail, make sure that the users have sufficient authorization for authorization object S_OC_SEND.

    If you are sending BEx objects to an Internet address, you need communication type INT. If you are sending BEx objects to an SAP Office recipient, you need communication type OFF. Communication type OFF is only used if no e-mail address has been entered in the user master data.

Maintaining User Master Data and Settings for Broadcasting by E-Mail

  • If the BEx objects needs to be distributed by e-mail, enter E-Mail as the communication type and then enter the user e-mail addresses in the user master record for the user, under user maintenance (transaction SU01).

  • If no footers need to be inserted when the BEx objects are distributed by e-mail, you can specify this in Customizing. You can also define the retention period in days. This specifies how long the send requests are saved in the system after the e-mails have been sent.

Setting Up Broadcasting to the Portal

To allow broadcasting of BEx objects to the portal, you need to set up KM folders and collaboration rooms. These then appear in input help in BEx Broadcaster when you specify the target in the portal.

Enabling Processing of Broadcast Settings when Data Is Changed

To enable processing of broadcast settings when data is changed, add the DATACHANGE process type to the process chains for data loading.

Specifying Times for Processing Broadcast Settings

To specify times for processing broadcast settings, schedule report RSRD_BROADCAST_FOR_TIMEPOINT.

Enabling Precalculation of Workbooks

To precalculate workbooks, you need to install the BEx Precalculation Service for Microsoft Excel.
