Setting Up Broadcasting to the PortalLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

To allow broadcasting of BEx objects to the portal, you need to set up KM folders and collaboration rooms. These then appear in input help in BEx Broadcaster when you specify the target in the portal.

As the portal system administrator, you can view the content of the views from the input help.

You can view the content of the My Portfolio and CM Repository View views in the portal by choosing Content Administration → KM Content.

You can view the content of the Collaboration Room view in the portal by choosing Collaboration → Room Directory.

Prerequisites

You have the super_admin_role portal role.

Procedure

Setting Up KM Folders

Define the storage of the documents using CM repository managers displayed as KM folders. The documents can be stored in the database or in the file system. Once Knowledge Management has been installed, CM repository /documents exists. If necessary, you can create other storages in KM and make them visible using entry points (see below).

Note

If you create a CM repository manager in FSDB mode, the properties or metadata of the documents are stored in the database and the documents and the folders themselves are stored in the file system. FSDB mode enables you to store precalculated reports in the file system using information broadcasting. If the file system of the portal is not identical to the required file system, you can create a connection between the two file systems using mount (Unix) or share (Windows).

Defining Entry Points

If users in BEx Broadcaster choose Export Document To → Other Folder → CM Repository View as theTarget in Portal, the system creates a link to any folder.

To ensure that the KM folders are displayed in the CM repository view of the input help, define the KM folders as entry points in KM folder /entry_points.

Entry points can be links to any number of other repositories or KM folders. We recommend using an Entry Points Provider for Static Folders. In cases of high priority (low input values indicate high priority), the entry point is displayed with an icon at the start of the list of all entry points.

Creating and Assigning Collaboration Rooms

If a user in BEx Broadcaster chooses Export Document To → Any Folder → Collaboration Room as the Target in Portal, the rooms assigned to this user are displayed.

Create the rooms with the collaboration functions and assign them to individual users or to groups. The system generates a link in Knowledge Management under the selected collaboration room.

A link in Knowledge Management is immediately visible to users that have access to the selected folder in Knowledge Management via a KM navigation iView.

Specifying a Default Portal for the Input Help

The input help is restricted to one portal. It lists the content of the portal that has the Default indicator in the Portals Connected table (RSPOR_T_PORTAL).

More information:Automated Configuration of BI Java.

Users can user-specifically overwrite the default portal using parameter ID RSPOR_DEFAULT_PORTAL (SET/GETparameter).

  1. On the SAP Easy Access screen, choose System →   User Profile →   Own Data.
  2. On the Parameter tab page, enter parameter ID RSPOR_DEFAULT_PORTAL and the corresponding parameter value. The parameter value is the name of the RFC destination from the Portals Connected table.

Setting Up Broadcasting in Federated Portal Networks

It is also possible to broadcast the BEx objects in federated portal networks.
