Using the Upload SystemLocate this document in the navigation structure

Context

SAP delivers basis libraries which you have to transport once through your system landscape to fill the build spaces before starting your development. If you want to make modifications to Java components of the Employee Self-Service (ESS) or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application, then you also have to load the related sources into the development configuration.

Note that the archives and sources have to be transported again after every support package or patch import.

Note

With SAP NetWeaver 7.3 you can use the Synchronize Service instead of the Upload System. The Synchronize Service reads all necessary information from the runtime system and loads the relevant sources and archives from the inbox. This means it is no longer necessary to import sources and archives manually.

More information about the Synchronize Service, see Using the Synchronize Service.

Procedure

  1. Load the required archives (for example, for SAP NetWeaver 7.0: SAPBUILDTxx_x.SCA, SAPJEExx_x.SCA, and SAPJTECHSxx_x.SCA ) from SAP Service Marketplace or, if required, copy them from your upgrade or support package directory, if available.
  2. Log on to your communication system and call transaction STMS.
  3. Choose Transport Organizer Web UI.
  4. Select your upload system from the input help.
  5. In the Transport Organizer Web UI select Create Request.

Enter a short text and your user as Owner. Choose Create.

  6. Ensure that the transport request that was just created is selected and choose the Object List tab.
  7. Choose Attach . Select the NWDI application from the list and then choose the archives one after the other.
  8. To release the transport request, choose Release.
  9. In your communication system select transaction STMS and then choose Import Overview.
  10. Double-click on your development system. The transport request that contains the SCAs should now be in the import queue. If you cannot see it, refresh the display. Choose the transport request and then choose Import Request.
  11. Refresh the display from time to time.
  12. If you use the activity transport, execute the import in both your test and productive systems.
  13. To ensure that the newest SCAs are available in every system for building applications, create the transport after every support package and patch import a new transport request into the upload system again and execute an import into the systems (and the follow-on systems if using the Activity Transport).
