Setting the Type of Message Notification
If you use a screen magnifier or a screen reader, to keep the message in focus it should be displayed in a dialog box.
- You can find the settings for this in the options dialog of SAP GUI for Windows in the folder Interaction Design under Notifications. Here you can also activate a beep for message notification.
You can find more information in SAP GUI Help in chapter 6 Adjusting the Local Layout.
Changing the Font and the Font Size
To use the configuration options for users with visual impairments in SAP GUI for Windows, you must have configured the accessibility mode (see
General Settings). The appearance of SAP GUI for Windows is based on both the settings in SAP GUI for Windows and on the specific settings in the Windows operating system and in Microsoft Internet Explorer.
- You can change the font settings in the options dialog of SAP GUI for Windows in the folder Visual Design under Font Settings.
Note The font setting does not affect all user interface elements. SAP GUI for Windows takes the font settings for the title bar, menu bar, and menu options from the Windows operating system. The font setting in Performance Assistant is taken from your settings in Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Changing the Font Color and the Background Color in Lists
In the
Classic Theme you can also configure the font and background colors in lists. The color settings in lists are independent of the high-contrast theme, but can still be used in this mode.
- If required, in SAP Logon select the classic theme and restart SAP Logon.
- In the options dialog of SAP Logon in folder Visual Design choose Colors in Lists. You can select a color combinations to suit your needs.
Note The color settings in Performance Assistant are taken from your settings in Microsoft Internet Explorer.
High Contrast
High contrast displays use distinctive colors, such as a white font on a black background. High contrast displays are available for the
Classic Theme and the
SAP Signature Theme. To get a high contrast display for SAP GUI for Windows, proceed as follows:
- In the options dialog of SAP Logon under Theme Preview/Settings first choose one of the two themes named above.
- If you decide on the SAP Signature Theme, you have to also select option Activate High Contrast Mode.
- If you choose the Classic Theme, no further selection is required.
- Activate the accessibility mode in the options dialog under accessibility.
- In the Windows operating system you can set the color scheme by pressing keys Alt+ Shift + Print. Confirm the next dialog box of the Windows operating system.
Note Note that changes to settings only come into effect after restarting the SAP GUI/SAP logon.
Colors in Forms
In
Classic Theme the standard colors of certain screen elements in SAP GUI for Windows in accessibility mode can be adjusted:
- Open the options dialog in SAP GUI for Windows and go to the Visual Design folder. If the Classic Theme was selected, this folder contains the page Color in Forms, which is where you can make your settings.
Reading Long Tooltips in SAP GUI for Windows
If you are working with a greatly magnified screen, long tooltips (also known as quick infos) can exceed the screen section of the screen magnifier. The text of the tooltip is no longer shown in full. In SAP GUI for Windows, you can use the following procedure to fix tooltips on the program UI. This allows you to read them in full, even when the screen is greatly magnified.
- Use the tabulator key on your keyboard (not the mouse pointer) to go to the UI element you want - for instance, a pushbutton.
- Choose the key combination Ctrl + q.
- The tooltip for this UI element appears, and persists as long as the focus is positioned on this element, or until you choose the key combination Ctrl + q.
- While the tooltip is displayed, you can move the mouse pointer along the tooltip to read the full text. Note that the tooltip disappears as soon as you move the mouse pointer or press the tabulator key to focus on a different element.
Automatically move mouse cursor to focused element (for magnifier tools)
This option means that the mouse pointer always moves automatically with the focus in a SAP GUI session (this does not apply to SAP Logon). If you jump from one UI element to the next using the keyboard then the mouse pointer is also placed on this element automatically. This option makes sense when using magnification tools, such as Microsoft Windows Magnifier, as the area displayed by these tools is not determined by the focus, but rather by the position of the mouse pointer.
- Open the options dialog in SAP GUI for Windows and go to the Interaction Design folder. Open the page Keyboard Settings.
- Select the function and apply the setting.
