Object-Based Navigation Target EditorLocate this document in the navigation structure

Definition

An editor that enables portal content administrators to view and modify the object-based navigation (OBN) attributes of a specific OBN target iView. If the iView contains parameters that reference other applications, they appear in the Target iView Parameter Mapping list at the bottom of the editor.

Use

The OBN Target Editor assists the content administrator as follows:

  • Determining if an iView is an OBN target

A typical use for an administrator is to check if an iView is an OBN target while viewing the contents of a role.

  • Viewing OBN attributes of a target iView

Viewing the attributes of a navigation target helps the content administrator make navigation changes.

  • Adding and removing operations to a target iView

    • Adding operations to a target iView makes the iView a potential target for a wider range of OBN user actions.

      Note

To avoid possible disruption of other navigation implementations that use the same OBN operation, the iView to which an operation is added, using the Target Editor, is marked as being of the lowest priority as a navigation target for that operation.

    • Removing an operation eliminates the iView as a potential navigation target for the relevant roles.

  • Finding the location in the Portal Catalog of the business object on which navigation is based

Where object-based navigation is used extensively, there may be many business objects and targets. it is helpful to the content administrator, particularly for making navigation to a specific target, to be able to locate quickly the target business.

  • Viewing navigation parameters the iView may have, as well as the ability to add, edit, and remove parameters.

Structure

The Object-Based Navigation Target Editor consists of two tables with three columns:

  • Business Object Operations - This table list the operations that target the current iView. It indicates the business object to which the operation belongs, the name of the operation, and the system alias of the system that is the data source of the iView.

Two buttons above the table do the following:

  • Locate in Portal Catalog - Enables the administrator to locate the selected business object in the Portal Catalog

  • Remove - Removes the selected operation from the table and disassociates it from the iView
