A portal page that supplies object-based navigation (OBN) information, or metadata, about the operations in an iView that launches object-based navigation (OBN). The OBN Source Editor enables portal content administrators to view and, in some cases, to modify the attributes of a specific OBN source iView.
The source editor enables you to launch an iView in a separate window and run it in an inspection mode that emulates runtime. You can perform the following actions:
Activate an OBN source iView in inspection mode by choosing Check Source iView
This launches the iView as a source application and, after user confirmation, lists the operations that the user activates in the Business Object Operations table of the editor, including the following attributes:
Manually adding and removing operations to a source iView
Finding the location in the Portal Catalog of the business object on which navigation is based
Where object-based navigation is used extensively, there may be many business objects and targets. it is helpful to the content administrator, particularly for making navigation to a specific target, to be able to locate quickly the target business. Choosing Locate in Portal Catalog highlights the relevant business object in the Portal Catalog.
To run an iView for inspection, do the following:
Open the object-based navigation editor of the iView, either from the context menu of the iView or by choosing the Object-Based Navigation link in the iView Properties editor.
Choose the Application as OBN Source tab.
Choose Check Source iView .
The iView opens in a separate window. You can then choose buttons or links in the iView. Each button or link represents a business object operation; therefore each navigation action during inspection mode automatically adds the implemented operation to the Business Objects Operations table in the source iView editor.
You can also add operations manually to the Business Objects Operations table as follows:
Manually add operation to the table as follows:
In the Portal Catalog, navigate to Business Objects or My Objects and then to the relevant business object operation.
In the context menu of the operation, choose Add Operation to Source .
Confirming and Editing the Operation Attributes
Whether automatically or manually, each time an operation is added to the Business Objects Operations table, a dialog box appears that displays the following attributes of the operation for confirmation.
Business Object - the business object associated with the target iView
Operation - the name of the business object operation
System Alias - the system alias representing the back-end system to which the business object belongs
Target Role - the name of the user or group role to which the target iView is associated
Added - an indication of whether the operation was added to the table manually or automatically by checking the source
It is possible to edit the operation attributes and to add parameters only if the operation was added manually.
The Object-Based Navigation Source Editor displays a table that shows the business object operations that are associated with the iView and the attributes of the operation. The following actions are available:
Check Source iView - Runs the current source iView in inspection mode.
Locate in Portal Catalog - Enables the administrator to locate the selected business object in the Portal Catalog
Edit - Enables changing the values of operation attributes but only if the operation was added to the table manually
Remove - removes the selected, manually added, operation from the table and disassociates it from the iView
Below the Business Objects Operations table, there is the Business Parameters list. If the selected operation in the source iView contains parameters, they appear in this list. If you select an operation that contains no parameters, the list is empty.
