This section describes the basic concepts of Mobile Applications for Handhelds. A Handheld Application consists of components. These components can either be developed specifically for a Handheld Application or can be reused from other development projects.

Component developers need to decide at an early stage of their component design, whether they intend to reuse their components in other contexts, since this entails considerable alignment work with potential users of the component. Technically however, any component can be reused in other projects.

SAP NetWeaver Mobile offers two development scenarios for Handheld Applications:

  • Composite Development Scenario for productive, complex mobile applications

  • Compact Development Scenario suited for test and sample applications

All component types are modeled in the Mobile Applications for Handhelds perspective, which is part of the SAP NetWeaver Development Studio.
