
Call up transaction SE63.
You can call up objects directly for translation in the following ways:
If you want to call up the object via the SE63 menu , proceed as follows:
In the Translation menu, choose the menu option for the text type you want to translate. For example, if the object you want to call up directly and translate is a short text object, choose .
For more information on text types, see Transaction SE63 and read the "Features" section.
This takes you to the Object Type Selection dialog box listing all of the object types or meta object types of this text type. Select the object type you want to translate by double-clicking it.

If you want to call up the object via the text type ID , proceed as follows:
Enter the text type ID of the object you want to translate in the command field. For example, s for an ABAP short text. For a list of text type IDs, see Translating Objects Directly and refer to "Text Type IDs.
This takes you to the Object Type Selection dialog box listing all of the object types or meta object types of this text type. Select the object type you want to translate by double-clicking it.
If you call up short text object types via the SE63 menu or via the text type ID, the way in which the object types are displayed in the Object Type Selection dialog box depends on your short text editor settings . If you selected the Extended Object Selection checkbox in your settings, the system displays the real object types. If this checkbox is not selected, the system displays the meta object types.
If you want to call up objects via the object type ID , proceed as follows:
Enter the object type ID of the object you want to translate in the command field, such as DTEL to translate a data element directly. For an explanation of how to display a complete list of object type IDs in your system, see Object Type IDs and refer to "Procedure.
Choose Continue .
If you want to call up objects via the meta object type ID , proceed as follows:
To translate a Screen Painter text directly, enter the meta object type ID of the object to be translated, such as SCRT , in the command field.
Choose Continue .
The entry screen appears for this specific object type. Enter the technical name of the object, and check that the default translation area, source language, and target language are correct.
These values are taken from your translation settings. For more information on these settings, refer to Transaction SE63 and read the section "Defining Your Translator Settings.
Choose Edit .
If the technical name consists of several parts, put an asterisk * between each part of the technical name in the Object Name field. Choose F4 . This takes you to the Restrict Selection Quantity dialog box, in which you can specify the collection to which the object you want to translate is assigned. The standard setting is * which means all collections. Choose Continue . The system works out the correct object name, and adds it to the Object Name field. If several objects satisfy the criteria you specified, you are taken to a dialog box in which you can double-click the required object.
The object is called up in the appropriate editor, such as the short text editor if you are translating ABAP short texts.
You can now translate, or change an existing translation. To return to transaction SE63, save and choose Back .
Using the SE63 Menu
You want to access message 111 of message class NA directly for translation.
On the initial screen of transaction SE63, choose .
In the Object Type Selection dialog box, double-click object type NA under the C6 F1 Help node.
Enter NA*111 in the Object Name field on the ABAP Documentation: Messages screen.
Check the translation area, source language, and target language. Then choose F4 .
Do not change the standard value * in the Restrict Selection Quantity dialog box, and choose Continue .
The system works out the correct object name, and adds it to the Object Name field. Choose Edit .
The system opens the object in the long text editor.
Using the Text Type ID
A translation error has been discovered in screen 0100 of program ABC_TOOL_REPORT_1. You want to call up the Screen Painter text directly in transaction SE63. Screen Painter texts are ABAP short texts whose text type ID is s . Follow the procedure below:
In the initial screen of transaction SE63, enter the text type ID s in the command field, and choose Continue .
In the Object Type Selection dialog box, double-click the meta object type ID SCRT under the A5 Interface Texts node.
Enter ABC_TOOL_REPORT_1*0100 in the Object Name field.
Check the translation area, source language, and target language. Then choose F4 .
Do not change the standard value * in the Restrict Selection Quantity dialog box, and choose Continue .
The system works out the correct object name, and adds it to the Object Name field. Choose Edit .
The system works out that the object type is SRT4 (Screen Painter texts for programs) and opens the object in the short text editor.
Using the Object Type ID
The development team needs you to translate the menu texts for a specific function group as soon as possible in a system that is not set up for translation. The function group is called /BILLING_UTILITIES.
Texts that appear in menus are called interface texts. The object type of interface texts for function groups is CA1. Follow the procedure below:
In the initial screen of transaction SE63, enter the object type ID CA1 in the command field, and choose Continue .
Enter /BILLING_UTILITIES in the Object Name field.
Check the translation area, source language, and target language. Then choose Edit .
The system opens the object in the short text editor.
Using the Meta Object Type ID
You want to correct a translation in client-specific system table T1111T in client 300.
Log onto client 300 and call up transaction SE63.
Enter the generic object type ID TABL in the command field, and choose Continue .
Enter *T111T* in the Object Name field.
Check the translation area, source language, and target language. Then choose F4 .
Do not change the standard value * in the Restrict Selection Quantity dialog box, and choose Continue .
The system works out the correct object name, and adds it to the Object Name field.
Choose Edit .
The system works out that the object type is TADE, and opens the object in the short text editor.
