System-internal index management tasks that trigger indexing, for example, should only be carried out in a certain CM installation in a load-balancing environment. This CM installation must be entered beforehand in the configuration of the index service task queue reader.
In contrast to the content exchange task queue reader , the index service task queue reader carries out tasks that are gathered in a queue.
The index management service is activated.
If index management tasks have already been carried out on any of the CM installations in the load-balancing environment, a corresponding request is written to the index service task queue. The index service task queue reader is now executed on a specified system, and reads the index service task queue once a minute. If a relevant task is found, it is then executed.

You need to define the Content Management system on which the index service task queue reader is to be executed. You do this once. This task can run on only one system.
To assign a Content Management system to the index service task queue reader, choose Content Management → Global Services → Scheduler Tasks → IndexServiceTaskQueueReader.
