Use

You use various functions of the information broadcasting that are specially tailored for business experts and system administrators.

Prerequisites

Make sure that you have administrator authorization for broadcasting. You need authorization object S_RS_ADMWB with field RSADMWBOBJ = BR_SETTING.

The Broadcast by E-Mail, Broadcast to Portal, and Broadcast to Printer distribution types are intended for all users.

More information:Broadcasting BEx Objects

All other distribution types listed below allow users to perform administrative tasks and are therefore only available to users with the appropriate authorization.

Procedure

Broadcasting BEx Objects by E-Mail Based on Master Data (Bursting)

Distribute BEx Objects (queries, query views, Web templates, or reports) as precalculated documents or online links by e-mail to recipients that you identify based on the master data.

Broadcasting Queries by Exception

Check queries or query views in the background for exceptions. If a threshold value for an exception is exceeded or not reached, BEx Broadcaster immediately generates a document according to the criteria you defined and distributes this to the recipients by e-mail, to the portal, or as an alert.

Broadcasting BEx Objects Using Multiple Channels

Distribute a BEx Objects (query, query view, Web template, report, or workbook) with a broadcast setting using multiple channels (e-mail, portal, or printer).

Precalculating Value Sets

You can fill with values variables of type Precalculated Value Set for characteristic values in the background. The precalculated value sets are then available as variable values in queries.

Filling the OLAP Cache

You can precalculate queries and fill the OLAP cache with generated data to reduce the time needed to access the data.

Filling the MDX Cache

You can precalculate BEx queries in the background that then serve as data providers for Crystal Reports. This improves the performance of Crystal Reports.
