A category is an identifier of a group or a tag in an enterprise. You can associate property sets to categories. The translation languages defined in the category levels are user locale-specific. For more information about languages, see Project Localization.

SAP delivers the following predefined categories:

  • SAP_Plant

  • SAP_FunctionalLocation

  • SAP_WorkCenter

  • SAP_Equipment

  • SAP_MeasurementPoint

All the predefined categories will start with "SAP_".

The predefined categories are also associated with property sets and properties. You cannot modify or delete these predefined property sets and categories. You can add new property sets to the predefined category.

Activities

Creating a Category

  1. On the SAP MII administration menu, choose   Catalog Services   Category.  

    The Category screen appears.

  2. From the Category tab, choose Add.

  3. In the Name column, enter the name.

  4. Choose Add from the Property Set tab

  5. Select the property sets F4 help available in the Property Set tab.

  6. From the Translate tab, choose Add.

  7. Choose the language from the drop-down list.

Deleting a Category

  1. Select a category from the Category tab.

  2. Choose Delete.

Modifing a Category

  1. Select a category from the Category table.

  2. Choose Edit.

  3. Edit category name.

  4. Choose Save.
