You can select production planning and plant maintenance objects from SAP ERP systems and map or add the selected objects to groups in Plant Information Catalog. The properties of the production planning and plant maintenance objects are then stored in the SAP MII database. The production planning objects are Plant, Work Center and Capacity and plant maintenance objects are Functional Location, Equipment, and Measurement Point.

Prerequisites

You have configured the SAP ERP system. You can use the resource adapter MII Plant Information Catalog Connection to point to the desired SAP ERP system and to get Production Planning (PP) and Plant Maintenance (PM) hierarchies. To do so:

  1. Logon to the NetWeaver administration screen using the URL   https://<host>:<port>/nwa   or   http://<host>:<port>/nwa  .

  2. Choose   Configuration   Infrastructure   Application Resources.

  3. From the drop-down list, choose Resource Adapters.

  4. Select MII Plant Information Catalog Connection and configure the properties under the Properties tab.

Features

You can search, add and map different production planning objects (Plant, Work center and Capacity) and plant maintenance (Functional Location, Equipment, and Measuring Point) from the selected SAP ERP system to the Plant Information Catalog. On adding or mapping a production planning or plant maintenance object to a PIC group, the associated category is assigned to the PIC group and associated property sets along with the properties are copied to the PIC group

If the selected PP or PM object name is same as in PIC, a message displaying that the name already exists appears. You can create an alias in PIC by changing the name of the object in PIC. The properties of the replicated object in PIC is unaltered.

Note Note

Measurement Point is mapped to a tag in PIC whereas the other SAP ERP objects are mapped to groups.

End of the note.
Search Parameters

You use this feature to search production planning and plant maintenance objects in the SAP ERP systems. Within a selected plant, you can search only for work centers in production planning and for functional location, equipment, or measurement point in plant maintenance.

You can search for functional location or equipment using Basic and Advanced search criteria. In the Basic or the default search, you can search based on name. For detailed search criteria, choose the Advanced option. You can search based on the following fields:

  • Construction Type

  • Workcenter

  • Location

  • Room

  • Plant Section

  • ABC Indicator

  • Class

  • Class Type

Add

For production planning, you can add a work center or a plant as a child to PIC group. And, for plant maintenance, you can add functional location or equipment as a child to PIC group. When you add an object to the PIC group, the corresponding category and the property set along with their properties are also added. For more information on the values of the properties, see Property Sets.

Note Note

You cannot add new properties nor modify or delete the existing property values of the property set.

End of the note.
Add with Children

You use this feature to add any production planning or plant maintenance object along with its children to the selected PIC group as children. The corresponding category and the property set along with their properties are also added. When you add Hierarchy to a PIC group, all the work centers associated with the hierarchy object are added to the PIC group and not the hierarchy itself.

Note Note

You can add:

  • Plant, Work center and Hierarchy in production planning.

  • Plant, Functional Location, and Equipment in plant maintenance.

End of the note.
Usage

This tab displays the path and namespace of the selected ERP objects in Plant Information Catalog.

Map

You use this feature to map a production planning or a plant maintenance object to a group in PIC. On mapping, the pre-defined SAP ERP category associated with the production planning or plant maintenance object is assigned to the PIC group. And, the property set along with the property values associated with the pre-defined SAP ERP category are copied to PIC group. The mapping behavior is as follows:

  • If you have not selected a category in the PIC group, then the pre-defined ERP category is assigned to the PIC group. The property sets along with the properties and their values that are associated with the pre-defined ERP category are copied to the PIC group.

  • If the mapped group and production planning or plant maintenance object has the same category, the property values of the property sets associated with PIC group will be updated with the property values of the production planning or plant maintenance object. The additional property sets, if any, associated with the category are copied to the PIC group.

  • If the categories are different, the corresponding pre-defined ERP category along with property sets, properties and their values are copied to the PIC group. In case of production planning, you can map a capacity to a mapped PIC group. The existing mapping is retained while the capacity property set along with the properties and their values are added to the properties.

Note Note

  • You cannot map capacity (for production planning) or measuring point (for plant maintenance object) to a PIC group.

  • All the SAP ERP objects are mapped to a group except measurement point which will be mapped only to a tag.

  • The user defined property sets and their corresponding values are retained. Only pre-defined categories and associated property sets are changed. For more information about pre-shipped categories and properties, see Property Sets.

End of the note.
