The Plant Information Catalog screen contains the hierarchical structure of assets from a high level down to the tag and group level. The hierarchical structure is created in order to provide business context to the tags and their data by interfacing to the tag data servers in a generic way.  Because of the vendor-agnostic system connectivity provided by both the SAP MII and PCo products, levels in this hierarchy can be queried for data using standard MII queries or services. This sensor network data can also be combined with data from the SAP ERP EAM and PP(-PI) hierarchies in order to add additional reference context around the tag values and facilitate identification of tags for reporting and visualization requirements and provides a complete end-to-end reference model of the various systems across single or multiple locations.

You can build plant-specific tag catalog containing the tags from the shop floor systems such as SCADA and plant historians.

Structure

The Plant Information Maintenance contains the following sections:

  • Data Servers

    • Allows you to browse for PCo data servers and displays the list of groups and tags from the plant historians. For more information, see Browse Data Servers.

    • Allows you to browse production planning objects from the configured SAP ERP system. For more information, see Browse SAP ERP Servers.

    Note Note

A dialog box appears for conflict resolution when you add a group or tag from PCo data server or SAP ERP system to Plant Information Catalog. In other words, the system checks for the existing namespaces of tags or groups. You can either rename the new tag or group or cancel the operation. Additionally for a plant in PP hierarchy, when you choose Add with Children, the conflict appears for duplicate work centers available under different hierarchies in a plant.

    End of the note.
  • Plant Catalog

    • Allows you to do the following from the Plant Catalog pane:

      • Create groups and tags

      • Rename and modify groups and tags

      • Delete groups and tags

      • Organize the tags using the Cut, Copy and Paste functions

      • Map tags to the tags in the PCo data server

      • Disconnect tags from the data server

      • Reset a plant information catalog object. In other words, you can revert the changes associated with the production planning objects before associating with a change list.

        Note Note

On resetting an object, the association of the production planning object from the change list is also removed.

        End of the note.
      • Import

You can add contents available in an XML document to the plant information catalog. When you select a group and import an XML document, your content is added as the lower-level nodes to the selected group.

      • Export

You can export selected contents and the lower-level nodes from the plant tag catalog and the live catalog to an XML document.

        Note Note

You can import and export only groups and not tags.

        End of the note.
      • Refresh PCo Metadata

      • Synchronize

Any changes to a property set or category must be updated to the tags and groups in the plant catalog. However, if the changes are not updated, an indicator besides such tags and groups appears in the Sync Status column of the Plant Catalog tab. This indicates that the associated property set or category is not updated with the changes.

Synchronize button updates changes to a single group or tag. A screen with all the changes related to addition, deletion, and modification to property sets are displayed. You can either synchronize all the changes or only a part of the changes. The group or the tag is still out of sync if you select only one or part of the changes. When all the changes are applied, the group or the tag is synchronized with the changes.

Synchronize All button updates all the selected groups and the tags with the Out-of Sync indicator. The system does not prompt with the changes related to particular properties or categories.
