Purpose

This section contains information about the configuration of the Business Package for DMS Connector for KM .

Prerequisites

You have installed the required system components (portal and back-end system). See Business Package for DMS Connector for KM .

Note Note

Note the following for the back-end system:

You can only edit those documents in the portal whose original application files were checked in to a storage system via the Knowledge Provider (KPro; application component BC-SRV-KPR).

You have to implement the following Notes in the back-end system before you can create documents in the portal:

783913 - DMS: It is not possible to check in to vault from WebGUI

820897 - DMS: Check-in from table content fails

End of the note.

Process Flow

The system administrator for Knowledge Management has to make the following settings:

  • You make the settings for the Repository Manager that controls the editing of documents and document-based structures, as follows:   System Administration   System Configuration   Knowledge Management   Content Management   Repository Managers.

    • Edit the DMSRMRepositoryManager (DMS Repository Manager) entry .

    • Enter a value for ResourceValidity .

To avoid the back-end system being accessed multiple times in the same way, enter a value for the validity of a resource (ResourceValidity). You enter the data in milliseconds.

    • Enter a default category .

If the document manager adds a document that already exists or creates it again for a folder, the system loads the document in a storage location that is determined by the storage category. If you do not enter a storage category, the system automatically saves the document to the storage location of the default category you entered.

    • Enter the SystemAlias for the back-end system.

    • Enter the VariantPrefix for the selection variant.

All selection variants in the ERP system that document managers edit in the portal must start with this character string.

  • You make the settings for the layout set that influences the document manager’s user interface as follows:   System Administration   System Configuration   Knowledge Management   Content Management   User Interface   Settings   Layout Set   .

    • Edit the DMSRM Explorer entry.

    • You can change the layout of the document overview and the detail screen. This layout set is assigned to the Document Explorer iView.

For more information, see SAP Library under   Knowledge Management   User Interface   Where Do I Set the User Interface?

  • You can change the defined properties (document data of the document info record) here:   System Administration   System Configuration   Knowledge Management   Content Management   Global Services   Property Metadata   .

    • To filter all the properties that are relevant to the DMS Repository Manager (dmsrm) , enter the character string dmsrm* .

    • To speed up the document search, for example, the system specifies for the dmsrm_dokar (document type) property that an index is to be set up.

    • You must not change the Read Only setting for the following properties: dmsrm_classes , dmsrm_characteristics , and dmsrm_objectlinks . This data is displayed on the detail screen under Properties on separate tab pages and cannot be changed in the portal. If you do not set this indicator, the entries are listed and they can be changed; however, no changes will be written to the database.

  • You can change the defined property structure of the detail screen as follows:   System Administration   System Configuration   Knowledge Management   Content Management   Global Services   Property Structures   .

Edit the DMSRMPropertyStructure property structure if required.

For more information, see SAP Library under   Knowledge Management   Content Management Configuration   Global Services   Property Structure Service   .
