A unique identifier representing a specific instance of material that is consumed during the assembly of the material in the manufacturing process
The inventory ID is a key record for genealogy. It is created when a specific instance of manufactured material completes its manufacturing process. Additionally, an inventory ID is created when a specific instance of material is received on the shop floor for component consumption. The inventory IDs are created through SAP ME ERP integration or manually by shop floor personnel (see Floor Stock Receipt).
See Material
For inventory ID records created through SAP ME ERP integration, the database field ERP_INVENTORY is equal to 'true'.
You edit inventory IDs using Maintain Floor Stock (see Maintain Floor Stock).
When material is issued and reserved in SAP ERP to a specific production order, the material document is reported to SAP ME and received as reserved components for a production order or shop order. During assembly of these components, validation occurs to ensure that the material is reserved for an SFC number in the specified production order or shop order. For more information, see Transfer of Inventory to Floor Stock Data, Transfer of Floor Stock Return and Scrap Data, and Transfer of Floor Stock Storage Location Movements.
