The SAP List Viewer (ALV) for SAP GUI is a powerful tool for displaying large data records. Operations that are often used for optimizing the display or executing different standard calculation steps are already integrated into the list display and can be used in a uniform way.

However, since not all of the data records that are to be displayed have the same structure, there are essentially three different types of ALV lists that are described below.

Simple, two-dimensional table

End of the example.

The simple, two-diemensional table is the most used form of data display. It can be integrated as a Fullscreen View or as a Grid View, that is, with other lists or other elements together on the screen.

Tree structure

Example Example

End of the example.

The tree structure can be integrated as a Fullscreen View or as a Grid View, that is, with other lists or other elements together on the screen.

Hierarchical-sequential list

Example Example

End of the example.

The hierarchical-sequentail list is provided exclusively based on the older SAP List Viewer for SAP GUI (Classic) technology.

Note Note

Also based on the classic technology there is a further variant of the simple, two-dimensional table (see above). These two tools are similar in bahvior due to their shared technical source.

End of the note.

You can find documentation for working with hierarchical-sequential lists, as well the classic variant of the simple, two-dimensional table in general, in section SAP List Viewer for SAP GUI (Classic).
