Use
Since several departments of a company work with one material and each department uses different information for the material, the data is structured in a material master record, according to user departments. This is portrayed in the following graphic:

Features
If you have called a material master record, an icon in the tab index tells you which user departments you have selected in the View Selection dialog box. As soon as you have called a user department, the icon looks different and shows which user departments you have already called in the current transaction.
With the Information about the Material you can display the following information on any main or additional screen:
Industry and type of material
Whether the material is marked for deletion, on what organizational level it has been marked for deletion, and who set the deletion indicator, at what time
Who created the departmental data on which organizational level, and / or who changed it last
