You can use this process to set up Discrete and Time-Based genealogy types.
In System Rule Maintenance, you review Component Traceability system rules for the site (see Component Traceability Rules).
You set up Assembly Point (see Assembly Point Configuration).
In Next Number Maintenance, you set up next number for Floor Stock Receipt number type.
If required, you assign Genealogy Management hook point activities to appropriate object and hook point for configuration check and other validations (see Standard Hook Point Activities and Setting Up Activity Hooks).
In Validation Mask Maintenance, you define validation mask for assembly data field, if required (see Setting Up Mask Validation).
In Vendor Maintenance, you define and associate vendor to material, if required (see Vendor Maintenance).
You define a container and associated container attributes for the shipped material, if required (see Container Maintenance).
You repeat steps 1-3 above in Setting Up Discrete Genealogy.
In System Rule Maintenance, you ensure that the Time-Based Resource (Genealogy) system rule is set to true.
In Slot Configuration Maintenance, you define slot configurations (see Slot Configuration Maintenance).
In Resource Slot Configuration Setup, you do the following:
Assign a slot configuration to a resource
Load the assembly data value for all components
Activate the slot configuration on the resource

In Resource Setup, you assign material, shop order, or tool number to the time-based resource (see Resource Setup).
If required, you assign Genealogy Management hook point activities to appropriate object and hook point for time check and other validations (see Slot Quantity Decrement and Setting Up Activity Hooks).
