This group controls how component traceability is implemented at a site:

System Rule

Description

Allow Assembly Qty As Required

If set to true, displays the Assembly Qty As Required checkbox on the Component Details screen of BOM Maintenance.

Can override at: site

Allow Multiple Time-Based Assembly

If set to true, an SFC number with time-based components whose entire quantity has been assembled at an assembly operation and time-based resource and then removed using As Built Configuration, can be assembled again when the SFC number is processed at the assembly operation and time-based resource again. The component information that is loaded on the slot is associated with the SFC number using the Component Time Log (COMP_TIME_LOG table).

Can override at: site

Allow Non-BOM Components on Add

If set to true (default), allows operators to add non-BOM components when they assemble SFC numbers through As-Built Configuration.

Can override at: site, material, operation, user

Related rule: NC Allows Non-BOM Component and Ref Des (see Nonconformance Rules)

Allow Vers. Change on Purchased Components

If set to true (default), allows users to change the value in the Version field for a purchased component on the Assemble Component and As-Built Configuration screens.

Can override at: site

BOM Name Equals Material Name

If set to true, displays only routing operations in the assembly/disassembly operation browse list of BOM Maintenance for the routing assigned to the material in Material Maintenance. If no routing is assigned to the material, this browse screen displays only current versions of all operations.

Can override at: site

Display Auto Fill Components

If set to true (default), displays automatically filled components in the Component Data table during assembly.

Can override at: site

Enable Pegging on Release

Associates a subassembly with the top-level shop order during release activities.

If set to true, creates a link between the subassembly and the top-level shop order during release activities.

Can override at: site, material

Note Note

This rule is used with the Create Subassys on Shop Order Release system rule (see Order Rules).

End of the note.

Enforce Pegging on Consumption

true: Allows only the associated component subassembly that was released with the top-level SFC number to be assembled during Genealogy activities (Assembly Point or As-Built Configuration)

false (default): Allows any component subassembly to be assembled onto a top level SFC number during genealogy activities (Assembly Point or As-Built Configuration)

Can override at: site, material

Note Note

This rule is used with the Create Subassys on Shop Order Release system rule (see Order Rules).

End of the note.

Max Component Usage Count

The number of times a user can add an inventory ID/SFC number to an assembly during discrete assembly only.

Can override at: site, BOM component, material

You can override this value at the BOM component level in BOM Maintenance and at the material level in Material Maintenance. On the BOM Component Details screen of BOM Maintenance, you can enter a value into the Max Usage as Component field for each component. On the Build tab page of Material Maintenance, you can enter a value into the Max Usage as Component field. The precedence order is as follows: BOM component, material, site.

Max Component Usage Message

Specifies the message that the system generates when an Assembly Point user attempts to add an inventory ID/SFC number that has exceeded its usage count to an assembly

You must define this message type in Message Type Maintenance.

Can override at: site

Ref Des is Required

If set to yes, requires a reference designator to be entered for a BOM component. The reference designator quantity must be equal to the assembly quantity.

Can override at: site

Ref Des Must be Unique

true (default): Prevents users from entering the same reference designator more than once in the same BOM in BOM Maintenance

false: Allows users to enter the same reference designator more than once in the same BOM in BOM Maintenance. In addition, this allows operators to specify the same reference designator for the same component at more than one assembly operation.

Can override at: site

Specific BOM Component Version Required

If set to true, requires users to enter a version for each BOM component on the Component Details screen in BOM Maintenance

Can override at: site

Validate Component Usage

true (default): Prevents users from adding an inventory ID that has exceeded its usage count in Assembly Point or As-Built Configuration.

Note Note

You set the usage count with the Max Component Usage Count system rule.

End of the note.

false: Does not check whether the usage count for the inventory ID has been exceeded when a user adds an inventory ID to an assembly

Can override at: site
