You can define planned production standards for shop floor processes for a material or an operation in Scheduling Standards Maintenance (see Scheduling Standards Maintenance).

Standards for the material is applied at the SFC level. Standards for the operation is applied at the operation level.

When you define standards, on the Details screen, you specify the following values:

  • For setup standards:

    • Setup Time

  • For run standards:

    • Production Rate Qty

    • Time

For each of the standard, you can apply the following time units:

  • Minutes

  • Hours

  • Seconds

The Standard Run Time value is calculated by dividing the Time value by the Production Rate Qty value multiplied by the quantity of SFC numbers.

Integration

If standards are defined for an operation or material of a shop order, then those standards will be applied when creating the shop order. You can view these standards in the Earned Standards plug-in (see Earned Standards Plug-In).

Features

Depending on your setup in Scheduling Standards Maintenance, the following standards get created together with a shop order:

  • SFC standards

    If standards are defined for the shop order’s material

  • Operation standards

    If standards are defined for any of the shop order’s operations, then operation standards will get created for each operation that has standards defined.

Note Note

If both material and operation standards are defined for an order, then both SFC and operation standards will get created.

Once the shop order is created, changes made to the standards in Scheduling Standards Maintenance will not affect the SFC and operation standards.

You can set the standards in the following ways:

  • Set the following planned production standards:

    • Production rates

    • Yields

    • Machine setup time

    • Machine wait time

    • Standard cycle time

    Note Note

    A standard can apply to more than one level. A routing-level standard overrides an operation-level standard, and a material-routing-level standard overrides both routing-level and operation-level standards.

  • Set standards for the following levels:

    • Operation

      These standards apply to any routing that contains this operation.

      Note Note

      The system applies the new standards to all versions of the operation.

    • Routing

      These standards apply to a specific routing where workers perform a specific operation.

    • Material

      These standards apply when operators work a certain material. These standards are applied to each new SFC number created for the material after the standards were configured.

    • Material-Routing

      These standards apply to each operation or step on the routing assigned to the material.

      Note Note

      If a standards parameter is not specified for an operation or step when the standards record is initially created at this level, then the system uses the value specified for the operation or step at another level, using the following priority sequence:

      1. Material-Operations

      2. Routing

      3. Operation

    • Material-Operations

      These standards apply to an operation or step that belongs to any routing for a material. Once operations are added through routing or by adding operations directly, and a standards parameter is not specified for an operation-step at the Material-Operations level, the corresponding Operation level parameter value is used.

You can view the order's earned standards in a POD for which an Earned Standards plug-in is configured by selecting SFC number and optionally an operation. If both SFC and operation standards are available for the selection, the SFC standards of Setup, Run and Total are listed first and the operation standards are listed next.
