Changing BOMs After Shop Order Release
Operators can change BOM components for shop orders and SFC numbers in WIP BOM Reconfiguration (see WIP BOM Reconfiguration).
Note
The system does not allow you to add and remove components from a BOM after you release demand for an assembly defined to use the BOM, because the BOM can be shared by many shop orders.
When operators use WIP BOM Reconfiguration, the system creates a copy of the BOM for a single SFC number or a shop order. If your manufacturing environment uses BTO/CTO (built-to-order/configured-to-order), to improve performance, you can set the Create Shop Order BOM on Release system rule to true to automatically create a copy of the BOM for the shop order when it is released.
System rules that control how BOMs work on your shop floor are included in the Component Traceability, Order, and Nonconformance groups in System Rule Maintenance (see Component Traceability Rules, Order Rules, and Nonconformance Rules).
