Setting Up Automatic Archiving
You can use this process to set up automatic archiving.
In System Rule Maintenance
, you define how many days the closed records must remain in the work in process (WIP) database before the system archives them (see Miscellaneous Rules).
In System Rule Maintenance
, in the Archive Component when Parent Archived
system rule under the Miscellaneous
group, you determine if components should be archived only when the parent assembly is archived, instead of when the component is done.
In System Rule Maintenance
, in the Expand Archive Handles
system rule under the Miscellaneous
group, you define if the Handle
columns in the Archive
table have to be expanded for reporting. Since this setting affects performance, the system rule value is false
by default.
In System Setup Maintenance
, you verify the value of the archive.children.update.batch.size setting (see System Setup Maintenance).
In the Background Processing Execution
activity, you define how often and when the archive program should run (see Background Process Execution).
Note
Ensure that you have enabled the background processing on your SAP ME application server. For more information, see SAP ME Installation Guide
and SAP Note 1958664
.
You execute automatic batch archiving either in the command line or using the defined settings in the Background Processing
activity (see Executing Automatic Archiving).
Note
You can also set up a scheduler to run the command periodically at the intervals appropriate for your site.
