Change Production

You use this activity to change the material, routing, bill of material (BOM), and/or shop order for one or more SFC numbers (see SFC Number).

This activity is typically used to resolve problems on the shop floor, or to reconfigure assemblies to meet new requirements such as a BOM or routing change.

You cannot change production for an SFC number if it is a member of an SFC group with the status Group Created or Sampling Active (see Sampling). Also, you cannot change production on a relaxed routing when quantity of a non-serialized SFC is at more than one router step.

When Change Production is used to change the routing for an SFC number, the system attempts to move the operation level claimed or awarded standards from the old routing to the new one. For more information, see Earned Standards.

You can use this activity for the following situations:

A computer has been partially built for one customer, but to complete a rush order, needs to be shipped to another customer. The computers have different BOM requirements; one computer requires 1 GB RAM, and the other requires 2 GB RAM. Run the Change Production activity to switch the SFC number from one BOM to another to resolve this problem.
A new operation on the shop floor is introduced and all pieces of the material must now be processed through this operation. Run the Change Production activity to change the routing and continue production.

Rules

The following table describes rules and settings that you can change for this activity in Activity Maintenance:

ADJUST_ORDER_BUILD_QTY	CHECKED (default): Reduces the build quantity of the original shop order by the total SFC quantity moved to the new shop order UNCHECKED: Retains the build quantity of the original shop order
ALLOW_DONE_SFCS	TRUE: Allows you to change the material, routing, BOM, or shop order for SFC numbers in the Done status FALSE (default): Does not allow you to change the material, routing, BOM, or shop order for SFC numbers in the Done status
ALLOW_PACKED_SFCS	TRUE: Allows you to change the material, routing, BOM, or shop order for SFC numbers that are packed in a container where Material as a pack level contains an asterisk () as a value in the following fields: Pack Level Value Version Shop Order For more information, see Container Maintenance). Allows you to change the material, routing, BOM, or shop order for SFC numbers that are packed in a container where Container as a pack level contains an asterisk () as a value in the Pack Level Value field. FALSE (default): Does not allow you to change the material, routing, BOM, or shop order for the packed SFC numbers
ALLOW_RWK_SFC_RTR_CHG	TRUE: Allows SFC numbers on a rework routing to move to the new production routing once the rework routing is completed FALSE (default): Does not allow SFC numbers on a rework routing to move to a new production routing once the rework routing is completed
COMMENT_REQUIRED	TRUE: Requires the user to enter comments in the Comments field on the Change Production screen FALSE (default): Does not require the user to enter comments in the Comments field on the Change Production screen
DISPLAY_FUTURE_HOLD_INFO	TRUE (default): Displays future hold information and the Details button on the SFC Disposition screen FALSE: Does not display future hold information and the Details button on the SFC Disposition screen

Fields

The following tables describe fields requiring explanation:

Initial Screen
Field	Description
New Material	The material to which you want to change the SFC numbers
New Routing	The routing to which you want to change the SFC numbers
BOM Type	The source of the BOM (Master, Shop Order, SFC).
New BOM	The BOM to which you want to change the SFC numbers
New Shop Order	The shop order to which you want to change the SFC numbers Note that the New Shop Order must have sufficient unreleased build quantity to accept the moved components or higher-level assemblies associated with SFC numbers.
Adjust Original Order Build Qty Down	If selected, reduces the original shop order’s build quantity by the total SFC quantity moved to the new shop order

SFC Disposition
Field	Description
Choose SFC Status Filter	Skip <`Number`> Hold SFCs: If selected, does not perform a production change on SFC numbers with a Hold status. This checkbox will not appear if there are no SFC numbers with a Hold status. Skip <`Number`> Active SFCs: If selected, does not perform a production change on SFC numbers with an Active status. This checkbox will not appear if there are no SFC numbers with an Active status. Note that if you attempt to perform a production change on an SFC number with an Active status and the Skip <`Number`> Active SFCs checkbox is not selected, the SFC number will be signed off at its current operation. Allow <`Number`> Rework SFCs to be changed: If selected, performs a production change on SFC numbers on a rework routing. The SFC numbers does not move to the new routing until the rework routing is complete. This checkbox does not appear if there are no SFC numbers on a rework routing.

Future Hold Details
Field	Description
SFC	The SFC numbers with a future hold operation that will be lost after the production change because the future hold operation does not exist on the new routing/version
Hold ID	The hold ID associated with the future hold operation
Operation	The future hold operation where the future hold association will be lost
Step	The step ID associated with the future hold operation
Comments	Displays the comments entered when the future hold was assigned
