Assignment Objects Consistency Check Locate this document in the navigation structure

Following the definition of assignment objects in the budget structure, you must check whether the definition was performed correctly. To do this, start the corresponding program via   Master Data   Tools   Check Assignment Object. The system carries out the following checks:

  • whether each assignable element has only one assignment object on the way up in the hierarchy.

  • if you are working with budget objects, the system will also check whether each assignment object is on a budget object.

  • if you choose Check missing assignment object , the system checks whether an assignment object is defined for each assignable element.

When using budget objects the system checks whether a corresponding assignment object (same level or superior level) is defined for each budget object. This check is even carried out if you have not defined a account assignment object for a budget object.

You should only select this option if your are working with small hierarchies or if you have used the definition of budget objects to limit your budget hierarchy accordingly. System performance problems can occur in large hierarchies.

    Note Note

Missing assignment objects are caught by the system online by rejecting a posting. If an assignable element, however, has more than one assignment object, this error will not be caught online and in certain cases lead to more budget being assigned than is available.

    End of the note.
How can you avoid performance problems?
  • Limiting levels when checking the total hierarchy.

To do this, starting from the highest funds center and commitment item within your hierarchy, you should determine on which center level and which item level the lowest assignment budget is (for example on level 3). Add one more level (+1) to this level (3) and then choose this level (level 3 +1 = level 4) as entry for the level limitation for funds centers or commitment items.

  • Several program runs for individual commitment item hierarchies with top fund center and top commitment item entry.

  • Several program runs for individual subhierarchies by choosing the corresponding entry for the funds center and commitment item.

    Note Note

If you make Changes in the Budget Structure , you must carry out this program because these changes can result in a change in the definition of the assignment objects.

    End of the note.
