Information System

Use

With the engineering change management information system, you get an overview of change numbers, change documents, and changes to objects, all on one screen. Using a comprehensive range of selection options, you can generate various reporting lists that you can adapt to suit your requirements.

Prerequisites

If you work with the user status, and want to select change numbers with specific user statuses in the information system, you first have to define a status selection profile. You do this in Customizing for engineering change management in the work step Define Selection Profiles.

Features

According to criteria that you define yourself, you generate reports for activities in engineering change management, in order to display them on the screen, print them out, or export them.

Selection

You can precisely define which change numbers you want to display. You select:

Using the status

For example, you can exclusively display ECRs that have a specific status. You can therefore get an overview of all ECRs with the status To Be Checked.

Using values in any of the change number fields (free selection)

You define which fields you want to use for the selection.

Example

For example, you can display all change master records that:

Were created in a specific time period
Were last changed by a specific user
Have a specific effectivity type
Are flagged as late packages

Using objects You have these selection options if you set the Further Selection Parameters indicator. You can use the following objects:

Documents
Materials
Task lists
Material BOMs, order BOMs, WBS BOMs, document structures, equipment BOMs, and BOMs for functional locations, and standard BOMs

You can also search for objects according to object management records, using an AND and/or OR relationship. The search using AND is more restrictive.

You proceed as follows:

All change numbers that were used to change material M-1 or the BOM for this material

Enter the material number in the screen areas Material and Material BOM and select OR.

Only the change numbers that were used to change both material M-1 and the BOM for this material

Enter the material number in the screen areas Material and Material BOM and select AND.

Customer variants can also be used in selection (in the Customer Variant field). Business Add-In (BAdI) ECM_EXIT includes method GET_OBJECTS_AFTER_CUST_SELECT, which lets you transfer data, such as materials, from customer variants.
Method GET_CUSTOMER_VARIANTS, which is also delivered with BAdI ECM_EXIT, lets you offer possible entries help with the customer variants that have been created.

You can also define your own selection variants for output. You define which of your own selection variants you want to use in the Display variant field. For information on saving such a variant, see Saving Selection Variants.

Activities

To go to the Engineering Change Management information system, select Cross-Application Components → Engineering Change Management → Reporting → Information System.

Selection by System Status

To select change numbers with specific system statuses, set the relevant indicators on the initial screen of the information system, and choose .

Selection by User Status

To select change numbers with specific user statuses, create a status selection profile for the relevant field on the initial screen of the information system.

Note

On the initial screen of the information system, you can determine whether object management records are displayed in the reporting list (indicator With Object Management Records). Deselecting this indicator improves performance.
