Process documentationOutbound Processing: Vehicles and Transportation Units in EWM

When you plan to send goods of several outbound delivery documents with the same transport, you use transportation units (TUs) or vehicles to group the deliveries. You perform warehouse activities such as loading, printing of transportation documents and goods issue for all deliveries at one time.

Prerequisites

You have performed the steps to create vehicles and TUs as described in Setting Up the Creation of Vehicles and Transportation Units.

Process

  1. You or SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) create warehouse requests of the type outbound delivery order. Either SAP ERP distributes outbound deliveries to SAP EWM and SAP EWM automatically generates corresponding warehouse requests, or you manually generate the warehouse requests in SAP EWM.

For more information about warehouse requests, see Warehouse Req. - Type Inbound Del. or Outbound Del. Order.

  2. You manually create a vehicle or a TU and a planned shipping and receiving activity in SAP EWM.

  3. For planning purposes, you manually assign the warehouse requests to the shipping and receiving activity in SAP EWM.

  4. You perform the warehouse activities, such as picking, packing, and staging the goods.

  5. You execute the action Arrival at Checkpoint for the vehicle or the TU. The system automatically changes the status of the shipping and receiving activity from Planned to Active.

  6. You assign a door to the vehicle or the TU.

  7. If yard management is active, you move the vehicle or the TU from the yard to the assigned door. If yard management is not active, you execute the action Arrival at Door for the vehicle or the TU.

  8. You perform the warehouse activities, such as loading the goods, posting the goods issue, and printing the transportation documents.

  9. If yard management is active, you move the vehicle or the TU from the door to the yard. If yard management is not active, you execute the action Departure from Door for the vehicle or the TU.

  10. You execute the action Departure from Checkpoint for the vehicle or the TU. SAP EWM automatically changes the status of the shipping and receiving activity from Active to Completed.

Note Note

For automatic creation in SAP EWM of both vehicles and TUs, and assignment of warehouse requests to the shipping and receiving activity, which are based on the delivery information communicated by SAP ERP, you must also fulfill the prerequisites described in Integration of ERP Deliveries in Shipping and Receiving.

End of the note.
