Inbound Processing: Transportation Planning in ERP
When you receive goods from several inbound delivery documents with the same transport, you use the shipment documents in SAP ERP as a basis for carrying out transportation planning. The system converts handling units (HUs) in SAP ERP shipments into a vehicle or a transportation unit (TU) and a planned shipping and receiving activity in SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM). You perform warehouse activities such as unloading and goods receipt for all deliveries at one time.
You have performed the steps to create vehicles and TUs as described in Setting Up the Creation of Vehicles and Transportation Units.
You have met the prerequisites as described in Integration of ERP Shipments in Shipping and Receiving.
SAP ERP distributes inbound deliveries to SAP EWM and SAP EWM automatically generates warehouse requests of the type inbound delivery. Either SAP ERP distributes outbound deliveries to SAP EWM and SAP EWM automatically generates corresponding warehouse requests, or you manually generate the warehouse requests in SAP EWM.
For more information about warehouse requests, see Warehouse Req. - Type Inbound Del. or Outbound Del. Order.
In SAP ERP you create a shipment with HU and assign inbound deliveries.
The shipment information is transferred to SAP EWM, where a vehicle or a TU and a planned shipping and receiving activity is created automatically and the inbound deliveries are assigned to the TU activity.
You perform Arrival at Checkpoint
for the vehicle or the TU. The system automatically changes the status of the shipping and receiving activity from Planned
to Active
.
You assign a door to the vehicle or the TU
If yard management is active, you move the vehicle or the TU from the yard to the assigned door. If yard management is not active, you perform Arrival at Door
for the vehicle or the TU.
You perform the warehouse activities such as unloading the goods, posting the goods receipt and putting away the goods.
If yard management is active, you move the vehicle or the TU from the door to the yard. If yard management is not active, you perform Departure from Door
for the vehicle or the TU.
You perform Departure from Checkpoint
for the vehicle or the TU. SAP EWM automatically changes the status of the shipping and receiving activity from Active to Completed
.
