Processing of Freight Orders
You can monitor and work with freight orders that arrive from SAP Transportation Management (SAP TM). Freight orders contain the information needed to process the cargo that is arriving at and leaving the transit warehouse.
To access the freight order processing screens, in SAP NetWeaver Business Client choose or .
You can navigate from the freight order in SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) directly to the freight order in SAP TM.
For more information about the integration of transit warehousing in SAP EWM and SAP TM, see Integration of Transit Warehousing with SAP TM.
The transportation planning has been performed in SAP TM, and the freight order has been transferred to SAP EWM.
For more information, see SAP Library for SAP Transportation Management under .
If you want to use automatic goods issue at departure from checkpoint, you have selected the Post Goods Issue at Departure
checkbox in the Customizing activity General Settings for Shipping and Receiving
.
In Customizing for Extended Warehouse Management
, choose
You can search for freight orders based on attributes of the order in the Process Freight Orders
screen. You can navigate from this screen to the Process Single Freight Order
screen for the individual freight orders.
You can also open individual freight orders directly using the freight order number on the Process Single Freight Order
screen.
You can use the Process Freight Orders
screen to monitor the status of all the freight orders that meet your search criteria. For example, you can search for all of the freight orders due to be processed in the working day, and see the status of each freight order in the results list.
You can work with the transit handling units (HUs), HU containers, transportation units (TUs), TU containers, and items connected to the freight order in the Process Single Freight Order
screen.
You process the inbound freight order as follows:
Assign the TU to a door, indicate that the TU has arrived at the checkpoint and that it has arrived at the door
Receive the HUs
Indicate that the receiving of the HUs is complete
Indicate that the TU has departed from the door and that it has departed from the checkpoint
You can print HU labels.
You can change the attributes of the HUs, the TUs, and the freight order.
When you unload a TU container or uncouple a TU from a TU in an inbound freight order, you set the status to Unloaded/Uncoupled
.
Receiving HUs automatically posts goods receipt for the HUs.
When you set the status Receiving Completed
for a TU, the information is sent to SAP TM. This indicates that any missing or extra HUs in the freight order have been identified. For more information, see Clarification.
You process the outbound freight order as follows:
Assign the TU to a door, indicate that the TU has arrived at the checkpoint and that it has arrived at the door
Load the HUs or HU containers into the TU or TU container
Indicate that the loading of the HUs is complete
Indicate that the TU has departed from the door and that it has departed from the checkpoint
You can print HU labels.
You can change the attributes of the TUs and the freight order.
You can create warehouse tasks to stage transit HUs or HU containers directly from the Process Single Freight Order
screen.
If you have made the settings in Customizing activity General Settings for Shipping and Receiving
, when you indicate that the freight order has departed from the checkpoint, the system automatically posts goods issue for the TUs in the freight order.
In the inbound process, it is possible that the cargo that arrives differs from the information in the freight order, as follows:
There are additional HUs that have the same attributes as one of the items in the freight order
There are additional HUs that do not have the same attributes as any of the items in the freight order
There are fewer HUs than expected
A HU is damaged
HUs have the wrong attributes, for example, a HU has a dangerous goods label on the physical HU but the item does not have a dangerous goods indicator
If differences are found, you can update the items. The system sends this information to SAP TM when you set the status Receiving Completed
for the TU. If the TU has the status Receiving Completed
, you cannot add or delete HUs from the items.
You can update the items as follows:
Add a HU
Remove a HU
Change a HU
Create a new item, either by entering the attributes manually or copying an existing item
Change an item
Delete an item, if the item was created in SAP EWM
Add or remove dangerous goods data to an item
You can change the dangerous goods data for an item only if the item was created in SAP EWM or if there is no dangerous goods data in the freight order in SAP TM. You cannot overwrite existing dangerous goods data that has been transmitted from SAP TM.
You cannot change the item assignment of a HU, for example, you cannot move a HU from Item 10 to Item 20.
You can use side panels to display additional context information on demand. The side panel content can be enhanced and adjusted to suit your needs. For more information about configuration of the side panel content, see Side Panels in Transit Warehousing.
