Warehouse Task Creation in Transit Warehousing

In transit warehousing, the system creates handling unit (HU) warehouse tasks (WTs) only.

Prerequisites

  • You have set up the destination bin determination for transit warehousing.

    Note Note

You do not require destination bin determination for the radio frequency (RF) transactions Unload HUC and Load HUC (TW), or for manual warehouse task creation in the Handling-Unit Stock List screen.

    End of the note.
  • If you move HUs to a work center for loading HU containers, you have defined a Warehouse Process Type to Move Transit HU to Loading Area (WPT to HUC Load) in Customizing for Extended Warehouse Management under Start of the navigation path Master Data Next navigation step Define Warehouse Number Control End of the navigation path.

Note that Warehouse Process Type to Move Transit HU to Loading Area can be used for this purpose only. Do not use it for other warehouse tasks in SAP EWM.

  • For reversal of loading HUs into HU container, you have set up the destination bin determination to find the inbound sections for the work centers.

  • For the PPF action /SCWM/SR_TU_CREATE_STAGING upon arrival at door for an outbound TU, you have set up the putaway rule Transit Warehouse: Staging Area for Door in the storage type in destination bin determination.

For more information see, Destination Storage Bin Determination in Transit Warehousing.

Features

Inbound Process

The warehouse tasks are created at the following points in time:

  • When receiving HUs using RF, the system creates warehouse tasks when you scan the HUs in the RF transaction Putaway by HU or Putaway by HU (clustered).

  • To move the HU to a different bin, for example, because the HU is damaged and needs additional clarification, you can create warehouse tasks in the Handling-Unit Stock List screen, or by scanning the HUs in the RF transaction Putaway by HU or Putaway by HU (clustered).

Note that you can scan the HUs at any point in time after receiving. If the system determines that the HU should be in a different bin, the system creates warehouse tasks to move the HU to that bin.

You can also create warehouse tasks in the Handling-Unit Stock List screen at any time. You can either let the system determine the bin or manually enter the destination data for the HU.

  • When a HU that required clarification has been clarified, the warehouse tasks to move the HU further are created in one of the following ways:

    • Manually in the Handling-Unit Stock List screen

    • Automatically triggered by scanning the HU in the RF transaction Putaway by HU or Putaway by HU (clustered).

You can create the warehouse tasks in the Handling-Unit Stock List screen at any time. You can either let the system determine the bin or manually enter the destination data for the HU.

  • When receiving HU containers that are not to be immediately unloaded in the staging area, the system creates the warehouse task to move the HU container when you scan the HU container in the RF transaction Putaway by HU or Putaway by HU (clustered).

  • When unloading cargo from HU containers, the system creates warehouse tasks for unloading and confirms them immediately when the worker scans the HU container in the RF transaction Unload HUC (TW).

Outbound Process

The warehouse tasks are created at the following points in time:

  • When loading cargo to HU containers or reversing the loading of cargo from HU containers using RF transaction Load HUC (TW), the system creates warehouse tasks and confirms them immediately.

  • When a TU or TU container arrives at the door, the system performs the PPF action /SCWM/SR_TU_CREATE_STAGING on the TU, and automatically creates the warehouse tasks to move the HUs or HU container to the staging area next to the door.

    Note Note

If the destination bin determination does not find a step to move the HUs to the bins next to the doors, the system can determine not to move the HUs.

    End of the note.

If the system cannot create the warehouse tasks automatically, for example, because the plan does not contain the information about which HU should be loaded on which TU or TU container, you can create warehouse tasks to move the HUs or HU containers to the staging areas next to the door manually in the following screens:

    • You can create warehouse tasks to move the HUs to the staging area for loading onto TUs in the Process Single Freight Order screen.

    • If you want to load the HUs into a TU container that has arrived at the door or is assigned to a door, you can create the warehouse tasks to move the HUs in the Prepare Loading or Unloading screen.

  • When moving HUs to a work center for loading the HUs onto HU containers, you can create the warehouse tasks in the Prepare Loading or Unloading screen.

Other Warehouse Tasks
  • You can create warehouse tasks for a found HU that is already in the system but not in the bin where it is found in the Handling-Unit Stock List screen.

  • You can manually create warehouse tasks for HUs and container HUs that exist in the warehouse at any time in the Handling-Unit Stock List screen.

  • The system creates warehouse tasks when you scan a HU in the RF transaction Putaway by HU or Putaway by HU (clustered) if the system determines that the HU is not in the bin it is intended to be in according to the destination bin setup for transit warehousing.
