Stock Not In Preferred UoM

If you are using the preferred UoM in the product master, it is important to be able to identify stock in the warehouse that is stored in an alternative unit of measure (AUoM) that differs from the preferred UoM. You can use the monitor node   Stock and Bin   Stock Not In Pref. UoM   to identify such stock. This node displays quants for products that have a preferred UoM maintained in the product master either globally or locally (local level takes precedence).

You can refine the selection with storage bin and stock attribute data. A value must be entered for the entitled to dispose; the system automatically fills in the default entitled to dispose for the warehouse. We recommend that you specify products or product ranges, to speed up the quant search.

The output list includes the following information:

  • Location data

  • Product and stock attributes, including the preferred UoM

  • Quantity data in the base UoM and AUoM

This node does not display handling unit (HU) information. If there are multiple HUs in a bin for one product, you have to drill down to the physical stock to see further details. If a bin contains multiple HUs for one product with different AUoMs, the monitor node shows the base UoM in the column for the AUoM. You must also drill down to the physical stock here to see more details.

You can navigate to products, batches, storage bins, and delivery documents, where applicable. You can also block or unblock storage bins for putaway and stock removal.

Change Alternative Unit of Measure

For nodes displaying physical stock, a monitor method is available to change the AUoM on the fly. A material document is written to record the change, and the material document number is displayed after the change. You can check the material document in the node   Documents   Warehouse Task  . If the change causes a difference in the base UoM, the difference is written and shown in the difference analyzer. If the difference in the base UoM is zero, differences are still written if the ERP version control is set up to send the AUoM for non-delivery-based goods movement messages.

This feature has the following restrictions:

  • The stock must not have a delivery reference.

  • If there are open warehouse tasks (WTs) with the marked quant as the source, a change is not allowed.

  • If there are open WTs with the marked quant as the destination, the system displays a warning.

You must use an exception code in order to change the AUoM. The exception code is taken from the internal exception SC01. The exception code which is assigned to the internal exception SC01 must be defined for the business context SC1 — Change Stock Attributes for the execution step A0 — Data Verification in Background. The internal process code of this exception must be DIFF — Post with Difference with the difference category Difference to Difference Account.

Example Example

According to the system, a bin contains a quant which uses C04 (cartons of four) as its AUoM, and there are six C04. You realize that the AUoM was not captured correctly during the inbound process; there are actually four C06 (cartons of six) in the bin. You use the monitor method to correct the quant so that it correctly reflects the physical reality.

End of the example.
